Kids Christmas

I took a poll of the kids favorite pastimes of Christmas.  I wanted to know what they expect year to year and what to expect this year.

This is my report:

1. Opening presents
2. Watching others open presents
3. NO SCHOOL
4. Playing in the snow
5. The atmosphere
6. Eating lots of meat and candy
7. Drinking the special sleeping potion on Christmas Eve
8. Opening the family gift on Christmas Eve
9. Having cocoa
10. Putting up the tree and lights and stockings

I was surprised and very pleased.
I was surprised because most of the favorites were not expensive or tinsel-commercial-driven, worldly nonsense.

I was pleased, very pleased, that the favorites the children talked most about during the poll were family traditions; simple, memory-making, family traditions.

It is about family!

My poll taught me to believe in the Christmas spirit all over again.

And this year I promise myself and family that we will do each and every one of the favorites and not much more!

I promise!

I like the idea of opening the family present on christmas eve. We may have to do that this year.
