That Time of Year Again
Science Fair time again.
The girls, Vanna and Dimples, chose a fun project that we hoped would end with us eating maple candy.
They boiled pure maple syrup to get rid of any water.
Dropped three spoonfuls of the stuff onto ice in a tray and onto a cookie sheet at room temperature.
The idea was to watch the crystals form, time how long they took and measure.
Vanna stirring the syrup.
Sadly, nothing worked!
They went to Vanna's house a few days later and tried it again. This time they got a few yummy pieces to solidify, but no crystals.
As the syrup boiled this time it suddenly foamed than PUFF! All moisture was gone! It turned into maple sugar crystals!
Not sure they can prove anything with all their work but they should get a good grade!
