3 Month Noodles

Our Stake wants its members to work on food storage this year. More specifically, a 3 month supply.  Now, I thought I was doing pretty good on the food storage scene. I figured I had 3 months at least.

One of the ways to go about getting a 3 month supply is working a 10x10 plan.  Write down your family's 10 favorite meals and times each by 10 for 10 meals.

Here's ours:
Spaghetti, garlic bread, green beans
Hawaiian Haystacks
Shepard's Pie
Stew, rolls
Chicken Roll ups, noodles, corn
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup, corn muffin
Hot dogs, chips, carrots
Tomato  Soup & Grilled Cheese
Turkey Enchiladas, rice, salsa, chips
Waffles, fruit

Now, write out the in
gredients for each meal and buy 10.  For instance, for spaghetti my family likes Del Monte brand.  I would buy 10 cans of sauce, 10 small boxes/bags noodles, 10 cans green beans and possibly 5 loaves bread.
After getting the 10x10 plan done I should have a 3 month supply!
Not a big deal, right? Then I started consolidating my shopping list.  Seems I use a lot of canned chicken. I would need to buy 8 cases for my storage! :)  So I might make that 2 cases and buy cheap frozen chicken...
So, I am way off the 3 month plan.  I have enough peanut butter and salt. That's a good start! And today I bought 10 boxes of spaghetti! I'm on my way!

Can I just come over to your place when I am bored out of mind from my 10x10 plan? Please? Maybe if we have to live off what we have stored, we can start up a Co-Op. During book club. Yeah, that is the ticket.

Okay,I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I had NO idea what a 10X10 plan was. That's a FABULOUS idea. Of course I am stocked up on those few necessities like you know chocolate, cheetos, DIET COKE!!! Again, mother of the year goes to Sherry Platt! NOT!!!
