Baby Showers & Popcorn

Second grade was a hard year for Mr. Smiles and his mom. The class had six girls and fourteen or so busy boys. I look back over the year and now understand why I said yes to being room mom.
Smiles and his teacher needed me. His teacher (who is the sweetest person alive) was always very good at taking time to talk to me, even when I snuck in during class.
We had a surprise baby shower for the teacher.

(Look at her! She's due in TWO weeks. I looked like that at two months!  Isn't she cute?)

Her students were suppose to write down advice for the new mom and a name for the baby.
Here's some advice:
"Don't put soda in the bottle."
"Don't eat your baby."
"Make your baby smell nice."
"Read to your baby."

And some names:
Popcorn
Tootsie Roll
Diamond (Smiles sister wanted to name him that one)
Jacob
Hellboy (yeah. 2nd grade. He even knew it was a movie. His suggestion was the don't eat your baby)

We had a relay of diapering a stuffed animal, sang to the baby, watched the teacher open presents and ate cupcakes with blue frosting.

Hopefully, we ended the year on a good note!
(And yes! The boys have been separated as much as possible for third grade as much as possible. We have THE BEST teachers/staff ever!)
