Mountains

After Fall Break, as with any family vacation, there is a mountain of laundry to do.
When this family goes camping, blankets and towels and clothes all need washed.

At the time is annoying only because I'm usually stuck with the task. But if I don't, it might take weeks to get done (seriously, ask my oldest how long it takes her).
I know what you're thinking: wimp! That's not much laundry. Alas! You can't see all the towels on the table and all the blankets on the couch and still washing/drying.
I'm happy to say everything was finished and put away by bedtime. Of the same day.

We went to the mountains in Marysvale and rode ATVs all over those durn mountains.

But when I see this:

And this:

This was fun:

And I remember this (which was the best part of the whole trip IMHO. Total family alone time):

I'm don't mind doing all these:

Cofu, Greece OR 'We don't want to scratch the Ferraris'

What do you think of when you think Greece?
Mama Mia?
Baklava?
Beaches!

Ah, Yes. There were beaches.
DH swam in the Mediterranean.
We were kinda hoping fora 'family friendly' beach. Apparently, family friendly in Europe is some toplessness. Our beach had a minimum toplessness.

No. We have no pictures of toplessness.
But we do have lovely pictures of Ferrari's.

DH video taped them revving their engines so he could listen later, like a lullaby.

The bus that took us to the beach stopped in the middle of the road. Our tour guide said, 'We will stop here and get off. We don't want to scratch the Ferrari's.' (said with a Greek accent).

Shhhhh...don't tell. We bought some 'knock offs' while in Corfu. We might not make it back to America if we are caught....

Kadusai, Ephesus, Turkey: John, Paul and Mary

This day of our trip was one I really looked forward to seeing! We had NO IDEA what gems awaited us in Turkey.

Amazing, amazing archaeological wonders were ours to behold. So, 'dur' with us for a spell and take a trip on your traveling armchair.

DISCLAIMER:
No turkeys were seen, harmed or eaten on this excursion.

One of my favorite signs: Anyone for a genuine fake watch??

Everything is made from marble; pillars, statues, streets. If someone special came to Ephesus and a majority of the people liked him/her. a temple was erected in their honor.

One person, like Paul, could persuade numbers of people to change their religion. If there are enough who change, the whole city might change. So Paul was persecuted because the government didn't want their religion changed.

Quite possibly where the Apostle Paul taught. Seats over 25,000 people.

LOVED the Celsus Library! It was an amazing structure. It is a tomb for Celsus also. (Kinda morbid. "Pick some flowers, dear, we're going to the library and while we are there, let's visit Celsus tomb.")

A museum was built to house pieces from Ephesus that were delicate or need more protection. I like this picture of DH :)

Onto Basilica of St. John where, supposedly, Apostle John was buried.

Our last stop was the House of Virgin Mary. Possibly the last place Mary, Mother of Jesus, lived. I was skeptical of course. But I have to admit to a spirit of reverence in the little house.
We passed an area that held a dug out keyhole shape, remarkably looking like a baptismal font.

Look at the pictures in the back of the LDS bible. There are pictures of historic sites mentioned in the scriptures. One is in Ephesus. WE WERE THERE!

And once again, here are a couple of articles I wrote with more pictures:

Nephi's Adventures

The little path that zigzags is how we got from the port to the city. We could choose to walk those steps, ride a donkey, or go in a cable car. We chose cable car.

Where in the world am I?

End of school/Hello summer!

What time is it?
SUMMERTIME!
It's our vacation!

With the school year winding down, it feels like summer is finally here.  I'm ready for relaxed schedules, warmer, lazy days and the possibility of sleeping in :)

Then I think over our summer months:

June: DH and I on our 20 year Anniversary trip!
Lovell family reunion
Father's Day and DH bday

July: YW camp
Scout camp
Lagoon?
Working on DS13 Eagle Project

August: My bday
Bear Lake
School starts

Well, most of the summer is planned and gone.
Have to make each day we are not away from home count at the pool!
