I'm Proud to Be An American

I gave my son the choice of getting up this morning and posting flags or going back to sleep. I was a proud Mom when he came upstairs ready to go.

The remembrances of this day still hurts my heart and can move me to tears.
Over breakfast today my four children and I remembered September 11, 2001. I have a book with headlines from that tragic day. We looked at the pictures and remembered.
We remembered we live in a land that is free; a free society where we can vote, go to school, talk badly about our leaders without fear of reprisal, free to feel safe.
We remembered all the innocent men, women and children who died because of fanatics who don't have the same freedom of religion as we do.
We remembered the passengers who didn't let the plane hit any more buildings or take anymore lives at the loss of their own.
I told my children of my memories of that day. I was just coming back from dropping 2 kids off at school and putting the youngest on the trampoline to jump and "watch me mommy!" We both ran into the house to answer the phone. My DH said he knew I didn't have the TV on but I needed to. I turned on the TV and as we talked on the phone and watched together, the second plane crashed into the other building. I was horrified. And scared.
I confessed to my children that I don't remember them in the home for the rest of the day. The TV was on for 10 more hours as we watched shot after shot of the buildings, of the people and of the rubble.
My throat hurts from holding back my tears so I will end for now.
I am proud to be an American!
I love seeing the streets lined with our blessed American Flag!
