Thanksgiving Take 2

Our Thanksgiving Feast.
 We had Thanksgiving AGAIN on Saturday.
Hubby and Scouter walked stores on Thanksgiving night and on Black Friday.
They napped for a few hours than joined Dimples and Mr. Smiles and me in Midway at our getaway.
Missy decided she wanted to stay with cousins which is fine. It meant more Banana Cream Pie for Hubcap.

<-----I just thought this pic looked cool at the time. Not so much now.

Scouter eying the Sparkly.

Oopsies! Mr. Smiles ACCIDENTALLY got whip cream on his nose!

Thanksgiving Take 1

Our Thanksgiving started out with delicious omelets via the Awesome Cobbley Family. This is their Christmas gift to their neighbors. Fun (and yumious) idea!

Not sure about this face! i know he enjoyed his breakfast!

 We traveled to Southern Utah for our Thanksgiving meal. Holly took a couple of kids with her and we met at Aunt Marsha and Uncle Vance's house. Lovely, low key day.
We sat around and talked, listened to the cousins sing and play on the guitar and almost watched HP #7 Pt 2. But Alas! We had HP #7 Pt 1 in the Pt 2 case. So the kids watched that one.
Then Dimples, Mr. Smiles and I drove the little white car (named Frances by Missy and Frank by Hubcap) home.

<-----Isn't this the cutest picture ever?? LOVE IT

Thanks Challenge

I'm grateful for the ability to read.

There are over 100 million people in America who can not read or read well below their level. Imagine trying to make day-to-day decisions being 'literacy challenged'!

Read to your children. Read to other children. Help in your local library's tutoring programs. READ. READ. READ.

I am grateful for cameras! I really am-unless I am in the picture.
I love looking at pictures of family and friends and vacations and cats and flowers.

So today, in honor of my 'thankful' post, I am going to folder #11, find photo #20 (11/20/09) and post it here:

Gotta love the 'missing teeth' stage in children! They have such fun smiles! Did I mention I am grateful for family and family photos??

I had to go backwards with the date to find a photo. So I went to #9 folder and picked photo #11 because photo #20 had me in it:

We are all in our 'Greece' shirts for picture Garth sent to a friend whose wife is from Greece. Aren't we just all super cute? :)

Thanks Challenge

I am grateful for my children; their talents, ideas, creativity and love. I love when they share their thoughts and laughter with me as well their favorite toy or game.

This week we drew names for secret pals. We don't have to keep it a secret if we don't want to but by Thanksgiving we are all to write a note of gratitude to our secret pal.

This is the present I got from my secret pal:

Inside I found a handheld game:

My youngest favorite game.

Can life get any sweeter than a selfless gift?

I am grateful for those pioneers who came before me. Their strength, courage and faith have restored mine.

And I am grateful for those around me whose examples I view as 'modern day pioneers'.

I am thankful for funny quotes from children:

"I know why we have Christmas. So we can have hot cocoa. Because if it never got cold we couldn't have cocoa."

I'm grateful for a road map in my life that points me in the direction I need to go, though I don't see the end I know the beginning. I know the person with the heavenly GPS knows the way for me, if I would just listen.

I'm grateful for all arts. And children who enjoy them as well. I'm grateful for various arts programs that give children of all ages the opportunity to draw, sing, take pictures, sculpt, act, dance and make music. Studies prove that the arts help in all areas of life, especially math and science. So it's a balance!

Thank you to ALL the men and women who put their lives on the line to ensure I stay free. I'm grateful for this land of the free, the home of the brave.

Freedom…

Comes at a cost;

By a war, won or lost

Armed paper and pens

Or through a camera lens.

Freedom…

Comes at a cost;

Bravery on the souls embossed

No matter the color of your face

Your land, country or race

Freedom…

Comes at a cost;

No history book can gloss

The sacrifice of a loved one

Their memory can not be undone.

Freedom…

Comes at a cost;

No battlefield is uncrossed

What have you taken?

What have you given?

I'm grateful for not one, two, three, four, five, six but seven temples within 50 miles of home that I can visit!

I am grateful for sick kids to remind me that I need to be thankful for health and strength.

1 AM I hear the patter of little feet.
"Mom, I still don't feel good."
"Do you need to throw up?"
"I think so."
"Go to the bathroom"
"Okay."
A few minutes and gut wrenching noises later, he says (in an exasperated voice), "Mom, I don't like throwing up anymore."
And I, the sympathetic barfer said, "Me either, son. Me either."

I'm also grateful for Lysol that I sprayed all over the bathroom to kill germs and cover the smell of sickness.
